I am given the task of writing a servlet that will accept requests through HTTPS.
I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do.
One part of the problem is configuring the server and the servlet engine to allow HTTPS requests.
But what about the code? I cannot figure out what would be different in the code for checking a username and password.
Any help is appreciated.

dont believe that your servlet would have to implement anything different.. it would be a servlet that would reside on a SSL capable server. The SSL software would handle the https request/response (encoding/decoding).
Your servlet would not need anything special.

So that means I don't have to open up any SSL sockets or handle certificates or anything like that?!
