Hi everybody,
I'm developing a chat applet. The server is Tomcat3.2.2.
As such Tomcat doesn't support database connection pooling, but i heard that Ant can do it. When i downloaded Tomcat3.2.2, i got ant.bat and antRun.bat along with it. But i have no idea how to use Ant. Can u please tell me how to start using Ant. Also i have set an environment variable 'ANT_HOME' pointing to the Tomcat Home directory. Am i right ?? When i run the ant.bat i get the following exception
The system cannot find the path specified.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/tools/ant/Main
Also note that i have org/apache directory under the src directory of Tomcat. But this directry doesnt contain the Tools directory as in the error message. The appache directory contains juz the 'tomcat' and 'jasper' directory.
My chat application is working fine, but i'd like to fine tune it using Ant.. Please help
...kindest regards
...saj

I think you have got the wrong tool. Ant (as included with Tomcat) is a general purpose software build tool, used for compiling and transforming java code, web pages and so on before they are deployed. It is not designed at all for use as part of a running server. I also don't believe it provides any sort of database connection pooling.
