I want to set up the security of both static html pages
and servlets by defining realms in apache (httpd.conf).
There should only be one login dialog (the webbrowser's built in) for both static html and servlet pages.
Is this possible, and how does the servlet get the user id ?

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
