Servlet URI

Okay,
I have an application with one servlet as the controller. I want I have a main.jsp which has a menu of links to other pages. When one of these links are clicked, I want the control to go to the servlet and have the servlet determine which page to forward to. My question is how do I write the link so it goes to the servlet with a particular parameter? I know how to do this with <form></form> but I'm not sure how to do it with
<ahref="http://server/examples/servlet?someparamter>
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean.
