Are JRun's custom tags at all portable?

My company uses JRun servers but does not encourage the use of it's custom tags (or custom tags in general) because of questionable compatibility. I have taken the JRun 3.0 custom tag library (.jar) and incorporated the library into a specific site. Using the custom tags in this way (portable) still seems to work on JRun servers, it doesnt however seem to work on Tomcat 3.2 (well, one database querying tag at least). I get the following error on Tomcat:
******
Error: 500
Location: /co/index2.jsp
Internal Servlet Error:
org.apache.jasper.compiler.CompileException: C:\jakarta-tomcat-3.2.3\webapps\co\include\content2.jsp(4,2) Unable to find setter method for attribute: driver
********
The jakarta DBTag library DOES work on both... so there is something amiss with the JRun tag itself i believe?
So... Are JRuns nifty well documented custom tags not really portable as Allaire implies?
