I'm just curious to see what software others are using
At the moment, I use Tomcat 3.2.3, and Homesite.

I am kinda beginner here. I am also using Editplus, Tomcat 3.2.3. I do have Apache 1.3.9. Up to this point for learning purpose tomcat is enough and I have not used Apache yet. Could anyone please clarify me when and how I am gonna use this Apache? Thanks BK

Mostly either a flat standard text editor such as notepad, textpad, editplus, or JCreator.
The main one I use now at work is JBuilder 5.0 Enterprise. It makes development much easier in my opinion.
For web server(s):
JRun or Tomcat
