Problem in making a servlet a default servlet

Hi
I am experiencing a problem with making a servlet as default servlet.
According to servlet 2.2 by use of Servlet mapping tag in web.xml I can make a servlet as default servlet for an application.
If I do that whatever may be the request, the request is being routed to servlet.
For Ex: If I access http://localhost or http://localhost/login.jsp
The request is being sent to my default servlet
Please help on how to avoid the request being routed to default servlet when it is not meant to it (i.e. when I specifically access http://localhost/login.jsp, it should invoke login.jsp and not default servlet)
Thanks
