problem while installing tomcat4.0.1

i installed tomcat binary distributionon my linux system.i changed the localhost port to 90 & default tomcat port was 80.i followed all the instructions for installation.

but,http://localhost was showing "cannot locate server"

i changed the tomcat port to 1977,but still it was showing the same message.

PLEASE HELP ME
