Has anybody built a message board, i.e. one that is similar to this discussion forum before using Java? There is a commercial product called Jive. But, I am not going to purchase it. I am thinking about reinventing the wheel. Would you advice how much effort it takes?
hi: i have a colleage who created one using php, it is pretty nice and simple. you may want to check into that.

I sort of want to use Java for this message board but do not rule out using PHP. How do I get in touch with your co-worker? Is your co-worker willing to share the code? Primarily, I want to customize it for my specific needs. Do you know any free source ones using Java? I know Jive is written in Java, but it is a commercial one.

hi JiaPei: i will go on a business trip to japan during next couple of weeks. so i won't talk to him for a while. but i think with php, you can start with template, there is not a lot of coding. regards,
