retrieving a record from a database

If I click on a link of an ID that relates to a record of an entry in a remote database, how do I retrieve the record?
For example,on my browser I'm providing a link to an id called 9657715, by clicking on which I've to connect to "http://us.expasy.org/cgi-bin/sprot-search-ful?makeWild=&SEARCH=aaf95915.1" and from the result page(not display this page on the browser), parse and get the id(which lies at the bottom of the page) through which connect to "http://us.expasy.org/cgi-bin/niceprot.pl?Q9KNG3", which has to be finally displayed on the browser. the intermediate retrieval and parsing should not be displayed.
These ids(SEARCH=aaf95915.1) in the links have to be dynamically filled in(appended) from a table and keep changing.
I looking for a reply at the earliest.

hi Joe,
Write a client program(socket programming)connecting to the to the host "http://us.expasy.org/cgi-bin/sprot-search-ful?makeWild=&SEARCH=aaf95915.1 " to the port 80. Get the response html page and search for the required hyper link after the <DT> tag. Now open the link in a new browser.
I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
