This week's book giveaway is in the Mac OS forum. We're giving away four copies of a choice of "Take Control of Upgrading to Yosemite" or "Take Control of Automating Your Mac" and have Joe Kissell on-line! See this thread for details.
Hi, I want to make a Search Engine Ranker servlet/jsp. My idea is to have an user fill in the url of a page and then some search keywords. The servlet then must submit the search string to one or more search engines. After that the user will receive the rank of the specified page. I need a few pointers on that like feasibility, necessary API's (standard or open source). If you are familiar with rankpilot.com. That is more or less the functionality I am looking for. With a few differences: 1. I don't need to send mails with every query. 2. I will be happy if it only works with Google 3. I dont't have as many servers available. Thanks for you suggestions. http://galileo.spaceports.com/~ibidris/ [ August 02, 2003: Message edited by: ib idris ]
For submitting surveys - look at java.net.URLConnection and HttpURLConnection. For analyzing what you get back - a very large question. You might try searching google with terms like web crawler and robot. Bill
