hi folks,
i just installed tomcat4.1.27 and tried running a simple servlet. is it true that this version of tomcat requires to configure url-mapping then only servlet can run?

Put ur servlet class files in Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes.

I use Tomcat 4.0. I think there shouldn't be big difference between these.
I think you needn't configure servlet-mapping, if you want to test your servlet. You can access your servlet via http://yourhost/context-name/servlet/yourservletname.
hope it helps.
