I have written a program for applet-servlet communication (Using Tomcat).When i tried with in the lan it is working fine. But when i tried from outside using public IP (DNS registered) it is giving Connection timed out error. Can any one give a solution for this. It is very urgent..

i got the solution for my problem. When we are accessing from outside lan, there may be a proxy, if yor are using dial-up connection no problem. If any proxy is there then set the proxy properties using the following methods and try.
java.util.Properties prop=System.getProperties();
prop.setProperty("proxySet","true");
prop.setProperty("proxyHost","proxyip");
prop.setProperty("proxyPort","proxyportno");
System.setProperties(prop);
