"Servlet Container" is a term used to describe a server which can load, initialise, and pass requests to servlets. Popular Servlet Containers include Tomcat, Resin, Jetty, Weblogic and Websphere.
For some advice on choosing betwen free servlet containers, you can read more in the choosing a servlet container page at servletshop.com.
