simple project

I am trying to develop a simple application (like "online shopping" or develop a bank appl) using servlets, JSP, Tomcat etc and if possible struts framework on my own. I have an idea about all these technologies.
This would be the first project i am trying to do.
I need assistance in design and coding phase.
Is there any web-site which guides in detail regarding how to go about any simple projects from the scratch.
Any input will be appreciated.

I'd not call this a simple application. How much java do you know? Do you have any experience with programming in java? Any experience in designing applications? Remember, designing a system is not linked to a language. Language is only a means to realize the design.
