Can you run a thread inside a servlet? In java web apps such as those with
real time stock charts, how is the data refreshed to the chart?

Do you have any code examples of how the whole thing fits together? My reason for asking was we are re-writting a current java swing application that gets information from a socket and refreshes the screen every 10 seconds.
