I was smokin' a joint,
I didn't get the point,
The end of everything was near.
I hit a ball with a bat,
Ate a cat,
And then it hit me flat on the rear.
I was thinkin' all wrong,
Mebbe cause I was usin' a bong,
But still I lost all of my fear.
I was starting to get straight,
But instead I took the bait,
And went and drank another beer!
I met him at a swamp down on najobob,
Where it bubbles all the time like a giant carbonated so-da.
S-O-D-A, so-da. So-so-so-so so-daaaaa.
I saw the little runt sitting there on a log,
When I asked for his name, in a rhaspy voice he said Yo-da.
Y-O-D-A, Yo-da. Yo-yo-yo-yo Yo-daaaaa.
*Da da-da-da-da, de di do dum doo-de dey!*

Part of it is Weird Al's mockup of Lola called, of course, Yoda...wonder where the rest of it came from.

Conrad,
Have you been into the medicine cabinet again? And what is the thing with answering your own posts?

Ok, Cindy. Now this is not fair. You need to respect the privacy of anonymous posters - aren't you misusing your powers here?

I don't have any special powers in Meaningless Drivel. And since I am not working on any projects on the web site - I don't even have the current password to the server.
So I resorted to hacking .

The actual implementation is left as an exercise for the student.
(Always wanted to say that).
Now I am probably in trouble with the powers that be.
If you don't see me around much anymore it will be because they disabled my ID for encouraging nefarious activity.

Citizens CG2728 and NN149, please report to Central Processing for reprogramming. Thank you.
FWIW, I assumed Conrad was probably behind the above posts without checking any IPs - I'm severely disinterested in tracking people's alternate identities at this point. But sometimes a person's style sticks out like a sore thumb - combined with Conrad's return elsewhere at about the same time.

I know, I should be a mature as you Jim.
But sometimes it is a little irritating when folks get so "cute" about their IDs.
Im SORRRRRRRRRRY (Cindy walks to corner of room and bangs head on the wall).

Take it easy Cindy, I don't want you hurting the wall now
When in need of peace, repeat this mantra (to be said in a low-pitched slow tempo, like a baritone singing an andante), breathing deeply:
Relaaaaaax your whoooooole body, and miiiiiiiind

Why? All these secret IDs are quite tedious, I think. The quality of discussion is far higher with people who reveal their real names - or at least, use identies that they have put some time and effort into establishing. Throwaway IDs are typically just used for insipid throwaway comments - who needs them?

Sherlock Holmes and Watson were out on a camping trip. After a good meal they lay down for the night. Some hours later Holmes awoke and nudged Watson.
"Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see".
"I see millions of stars.."
"And what does that tell you ?"
Watson pondered a moment. "Astronomically that tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of stars. I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically I deduce that the time is quarter past three. Theologically I can see that God is all powerful and we are all small and insignificant. Meteorologically I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you ?"
Holmes was silent a moment, then replied "Watson, you idiot. Someone has stolen our tent."

Yeah, that's why I was so amazed to watch the opposite phenomenon. Looks like Conrad posts less offensive messages under fake names (at least, sometimes), then he used to under his um... real name. It's probably a unique case when quality of posts is improved due to false identity.

OK, Dr. Insipid, that one was pretty funny. I admit not all posts from unregistered accounts fall into the "insipid" category (and I did say "typically" in my last post.) But it's not as if you couldn't have posted that joke using a real account, after all.

But Mr. Insipid and Dr. Insipid are not the same person! In fact, we are only distantly related.

Quite the topic eh?
I've been posting through a line that's connected directly to the internet. More than one person can look at JavaRanch, so posts could be coming from me, or someone else around. Actually there is only one other person that you may see with the same IP as me. Now you'll never know who those posts came from...bwAAHAHAHAHAHHA.
