Greg, May be this clue will help : At a point in the game, if you are on the right track, you will have one moster and one saint each in either side of the river and in the boat. Good Luck ! Ashok

ashok, just because 1 is the fastest does not mean he has to go on each trip... think about consolidating a couple longer trips into the same...
These games drive me nuts, in the sense that once I start, I can't stop. I can easily waste half a day on puzzles. I have finally finished game 3 and now I am anxiously awaiting game 4 (they mail it to you)...

Of course if your name is Saprano, you just kill the old guy.
Forgive my ignorance but who is Saprano? I asked for game 4 by email but did not get it. It is a ploy to make you gave your feedback. I was CHEATED ! Now I'm all depressed with no game to play. Looks like I'll have to work for a change.

Ok, another clue for all those who are still spending all their office hours trying to crack game 3.. slow-movers goes together.. but keep in mind that sending one of the slow movers back with lantern is foolish... so we need a fast moving guy to bring back the lantern.... Oh.. I said the whole secret ! This is like FilmiFunda quiz, MTV India. Question: Who is the hero of Amir Khan's new superhit movie, Lagaan? A. Spiderman, B. Batman, ORRRR... C. Aamir Khan. And.. here is a clue... Batman and Spiderman doesn't speak Hindi.. Best of Luck!! Happy cracking game3 !! Ashok. [This message has been edited by J Ash (edited July 11, 2001).]

Wake up Logic-Kings of Javaranch !! They have included Game 4 !! Give it a try... [I just saw that - haven't tried yet] Ashok [ Hey, iaf !! Dont do that please... those who are new to the game will never find the real fun in solving it if some one tells them the solution forehand... please.. There are so many other who solved that third game, including me.. but we kept it a secret so that others can keep trying and enjoy them...]

I breezed through 1, 2, and 3...but stumped on 4. It almost seems like you have to know or memorize a specific path.

Hi guys, For those who would prefer to do Number 4 themselves, don't look. 8 3 12 2 5 14 11 9 12 7 4 1 10 13 The spacing doesn't look good here, but if you put it on paper, where you start at 1, move sequentially (difficult for OOP folks) and then move from 14 back to 1, that's it.

What do those #'s mean, howard?....They are not even normal knight moves (move 2 and over 1)....is it just me or does it make sense to everyone?
I got it in 8 trys my first time...I don't think that was a good score though.

Tough indeed. I got it in first attempt, but in 21 movements!!! In Hall of shame, if they have any.. !! There should be some better combination to do this!
Justin, You should NOT tell me about such games when I am at work, it is TOO frustrating Of course it could be cuz I have not had enough time to work on it. Good puzzle though. < nasty little minotaur, grrrr >

ahh, the Knight's Tour problem... i just learned about game #4 in Discrete Modeling (mathematics class) this semester. we are going to model the knight's tour over a complete chess board next semester in the 2nd class. i am going to figure this one out using graph theory before i attempt to play the game. is that cheating, or just using my knowledge?
Down to 5 moves for puzzle 5 but still no perfect, only outstanding There must be a quicker way...
