Somebody here should stop acting as a policeman

One of you (or maybe more ?) bartenders/sheriffs should stop acting as a policeman here, and if you are so hungry for the power, then you should maybe become one in your real life.

Huh? Do you mind explaining that statement? Are you suggesting that the people who run this site don't have the right to edit/remove offensive posts?

Are you talking about the post where you exhibited racist tendencies against people who practice the Hindu faith?

LOL
I originally posted this topic, however I dind't post those two replies somewhere in the middle. Those two carry my name so that is another example how hungry for the power are some of the moderators here.
I was actually quite surprised that you didn't censor my post too. Let's keep javaranch one happy place and let's pretend this is a perfect world! Censor everything that ****YOU**** might think is not appropriate!!!

First off you CANNOT exhibit RACIST tendencies against a religious group. You can exhibit racist tendencies against a racial group.
Secondly I feel what I did was justified to defend my way of life. You responded to it then deleted it because my response made you look a little less than intelligent. You still are using words incorrectly.

It is easy for you to say that I should be grateful for this. You are probably one of the people who feel that they are owed something by McDonalds for their own ineptness.
Why would someone go to the International House of Beef for fries if they did not want to eat beef, even miniscule amounts of beef?
You say I SHOULD be grateful for the removal of my post. Hindus now say McDonalds SHOULD cater to their needs, no matter how ridiculous they seem to McDonalds. In my country we have a little thing called freedom of religion. This also gives people the RIGHT not to practice YOUR religion if they see fit. Unfortunately I can only make small movements to correct the situation, but if we as a collective people make lots of small movements we could make this a much better country.

First of all, Thomas did NOT move your thread. He does not have the power to do that in this forum.
Secondly - anyone can sign on as Jake the Snake. It does not take a Moderator to do that.
Thirdly, the issue is not racism vs religious bigotry. The issue is stereotyping. The presumption that since SOME Hindus object to the way that McDonalds does business then EVERY Hindu should be punished for it. (Heck, who made YOU the enforcer?)
Last I heard this was a free country. Even Hindus are allowed their beliefs, EVEN if you don't agree, without fear of it impacting their jobs (or their future jobs). That is what freedom is about.

I agree with your point about McGrease. If you don't want beef, don't go there. And don't complain when you find you have been given beef. You probably get enough second-hand beef just walking in there to offend a practicing Hindu.
However, feeling hostile or aggressive toward a person because you have categorized them and assigned to them the desires of a group they belong to is very small-minded. I'm of German descent. Are you going to blame me for WWII? I'm a programmer. Am I to be blamed for the big fuss over the non-event of Y2K?
I am sure that you would not appreciate being held responsible for the actions of groups that you may belong to but don't control. You should be open-minded enough not to hold others responsible for things beyond their control. For all you know, that Indian guy may have been Catholic. There are a lot of Catholics in India, too. And they eat beef!

I was reffering to the posts from Jake the Snake "greenhorn" and not "unregistered". Somebody has registered as Jake the Snake even though the name was already taken. I can only think that moderator can do such. Well, happy editing and censoring guys!

There is a small problem with unregistered snakes - they cannot delete their own post (correct me if I am wrong). So who deleted "false" Jake the Snake post?

I do not feel hostile or aggressive towards Hindus. I do not advocate the harming of anyone. I do on the other hand do not feel that I should have to live my life according to the lowest common intelligence denominator. If a group of people launch a Class Action lawsuit against someone precisely for the fact that they do not subscribe to their religion or honor their God(s) and none of the people stand up and say it is absurd I think that they are also accomplices. Unfortunately the way things are set up the only people who can criticize Hindus are Hindus. If I say something negative about a Hindu I am, as was misused, here a racist. Until I see Hindus admonish those amongst them I will continue to see Hindus as a threat.

I'm of German descent. Are you going to blame me for WWII? I'm a programmer. Am I to be blamed for the big fuss over the non-event of Y2K?

Are you suing or condoning by your silence the suing of Americans for bombing German cities during the war?

Yes, I am very sure that it wasn't "unregistered". I have been actually a ranch hand for very long time and I am very well aware how things work here. When I posted my reply those two posts disapeared. I can only think of that someone here is abusing their powers. Oh well. It is not the first time.

Well, I just may be showing a good education and a lack of brainwashing here but I have always thought (Asian) Indians were a nationality.
If I do not like French people am I a racist? No, I just do not like French people. I could like Belgians, are they racially different? Are all French people the same race? Does anyone here know what a race is?

You seem to be unaware of many things.
From the Encyclopedia Britannica:

The population of present-day India thus includes a number of ethnic groupsdescended from several different ancient racial stocksthat collectively have come to be called the Indian, or Indic, geographic race.

So every person of Indian descent who comes for a job at your company must say to you, "By the way, I am opposed to suing McDonald's." Is this how you pretend to yourself that you aren't a racist?

I said that "Thomas was right and you did exhibit RACIST tendencies". Nationalism (if you prefer this name) is a particular case of racism, so it is correct to call you a racist.

So what are Pakistanis? Are they a SEPARATE race? Maybe you should go back and look. I can assure you that not everyone who lives in India is of the same race. I respect the try though.

By the way, refusing to hire someone because of their religious beliefs is a violation of federal law.

Agree 100%. But if you discriminate them (during hiring process, as you did ) then you are a racist.

So what are Pakistanis?

Pakistani's are a nationality - some of whom are caucasion, some of whom are negro, and MOST of whom are Indics.
(edited to practice using the word Indic instead of Indian).

Here you go:
nationalism (n sh -n -l z m, n sh n -)n. 1.Devotion to the interests or culture of one's nation. 2.The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently rather than collectively, emphasizing national rather than international goals. 3.Aspirations for national independence in a country under foreign domination.
Come again!

Nope. I am claiming that there are just as many good none Indian developers out there that I can get the job done without attacking my way of life that I will try to use them exclusively.
When Exxon spilled that oil in Alaska I stopped buying gas from them. So I guess I am a bigot for that too? I just do not like to do business with people who are against my goals. The goal in the McDonalds case being FREEDOM.

But Indians are all one race and all Indians live in India?

Funny how that does not apply to suing? BTW, I did not refuse to hire the person. I cannot hire, fire or decide who gets hired for my company. I was asked and gave my opinion. Something that is still slightly legal in my country.

If I discriminate against them by their RACE. If I discriminated against them by their sex I would be sexist. Get it?

And how do you know that this particular person was against "your" goals? Because he was Indian. That makes you a bigot. You expressed an opionion not because of the technical skills of this person but because he happened to be a member of an ethnic group that you don't like. Do you also refuse to hire black people because some black people want reparations for slavery?

Jacob, we all here are spending our time trying to figure out by WHAT you discriminated that poor guy. First you said that he was Hindu, then it turned out that you did not know if he was Hindu or not... I really cannot understand why you refuse to be called a racist. At least, they have rational explanations for their actions.
I am starting to think that it was not Thomas who felt he looked too foolish and could not take the responsibility for his own actions
