Help! Explain how this servlet works?

I'm using the following code to retrieve the clients NT username. The code snippet works fine when used inside a JSP but when I move it into a servlet method it always blows up with a java.lang.StackOverflowError.

I need it inside a my servlet not in a JSP. Any suggestions? Also what the heck is this code doing? I'm lost at what it's actually doing, I just know it does what I need it to.

Thanks,
Dave

A helpful suggestion: with over 50 posts to the ranch one would think that you'd know enough to use code tags to preserve the formatting of your code. Many here (myself included) are not going to wade through a post of unformatted code.
