cookie are the cashed in the browser ???

Is the cookie saved in some kind off cash in the browser, i have a list off customer numbers in a cookie, and if i find the cookie on my harddisk, and i remove one off the entries in my cookie, i close down my browser, ups, the customer numbers is in the cookie again.....

Can anyone explain this ???

Yes, they're also saved in memory. If you close the browser first, and then delete the file, it should be gone for good. Or flush the in-memory cache while the browser is running.

I using IE 6.0, and when i update my cookie manually, and try to read it again with a servlet, my cookie is empty, the cookie is simply deleted on my disk, the browser must in a way can see that i have changed the cookie manually, and therefore delete the cookie...

Can anyone confirm this ???
