please help?

can anyone help me in unserstanding servlet?

these things i know

servlet is an helper application instantiated by container.
servlet has life cycle .
It handles http request given by client for
handling dynamic content.
In an web application we can have many servlet.
every servlet has servlet config.
All the servlet has one common servlet context.
earlier we are sending parameter to servlet.
but servlets in web app can interact each other by attribute
so now for each session we have associated attribute also
but http is stateless . after every request it did 'nt remember
its previous transaction . so it make us to use of cookies

please correct me
please help me , in understanding servlet concept
i my very puzzled what i m doing .
am i on the right track.
can anyone give me a good link that make me clear about
all the concept of servlet.

You are on the right track. The servlet specification talks about all the concepts and possibilities, and is very useful as a reference, but it's not so good as an introduction. You can find a number of introductory articles and further information on this page.

I suggest U to read the Head First Servlets and JSP book By Bryan Basham, Kathy Sierra, Bert Bates (<a href="http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/headservletsjsp/">http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/headservletsjsp/</a> . It is a good book in other to understand clearly about servlet, jsp and servlet container.
