Performance implications of listeners

Hi all,

We are here starting to discover the benefits of servlet listeners in our web-applications.

I am wondering however if there is a performance penalty if you start using them heavily.

Can anyone clearify this for me?

Based on the application requirements, if you need to implement the same code else where other than the listeners, i don't think the performance would be an issue since the same processing would occur anyway. The container will cache listeners instance and reuse them. In return, you get better manageability of your code by implementing explicitly your event handling code in well defined interfaces.
