yes, President Bush's speech was absolutely awesome.
the only thing that made me mas was that freakin' congresswoman that did not clap, or show any emotion... she just sat there writing on her notepad... like she had something more important to do. i think she is the same one who refuses to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance... she writes on her notepad then, also.
oh yea, and Hillary Clinton sure looked stupid last night. did you see her rolling her eyes and half-ass clapping? i wonder if she knows that she was caught on television?

I think Bush spoke the feelings of the Nation well.
I just worry that Americans are so used to instant gratification that a long drawn out struggle against terrorism, where many of the biggest victories will be silent ones, this will be difficult for us.
The last several confrontations that we have been involved in were so visual and so appealing from an instant gratification point of view. Having bank accounts cut off and imposing severe trade restrictions and interfering with weapons procurements is much less easy to promote to keep the determination levels up.
This should be a test of character for us as a nation.

Yup.
My wife and I thanked our lucky stars and stripes that Bush made it into office rather than Gore.
I wasn't impressed with Bush's speeches during his campaigning, but I have to say that I was impressed at last night's speech.

Chris Matthews said that Bush, "Hit a homerun." I think America will have the strength of character to go in for the long haul.

true. Bush is (was) not a public speaker... when he is reading from a tele-prompter or a script he does not project himself well... but when he speaks from the heart, he really makes an impact! it is unfortunate that it took this type of situation to bring-out the real President Bush, but it is good to see him taking charge. the best example was his conference from Camp David last saturday morning.
and, yes, thank our lucky Stars and Stripes that Bush is President!

It's probably hard to get excited when giving your 47th speech on a tax cut.

I'm curious about how much he meant this....

Our war on terror begins with al-Qaeda, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped, and defeated.

I wonder if he includes the Irish Republican Army and it's spliter groups in that statement.
Personally, I doubt it.

Angela, I wondered the same thing last night. I also doubt it.
The best thing that Bush said last night was, "Those who do evil in the name of Allah blaspheme the name of Allah." I think that goes a long way toward showing that our country doesn't hate Islam.

I would have doubted it too until I saw how close Bush and Tony Blair have become. The British have shown they are the best allies we have ever had and I don't think Bush is going to forget that!

Personally I think that he DID mean to include the Irish terrorists. He was TOO carefull to make sure that we understood that this was about terrorists in every country.
However, one thing at a time. His first priority is bin Laden.

Think that this should go AGAINST ALL TERRORISTS. If basque ETA bombs tourist sites in Madrid or at the spanish shore, it has international reach, because there are international people. If only against muslim-freaks, next generation will be told that was war against poor kicked-around islam-thing.
Personally I support this war. Many germans are very afraid off the retaliation. NATO does right when it takes up responsability to try to end this terrorism bullshit.
But it will be a very, very sad. Lots of people younger than me will die for some f***k politics. :bad:. But we as a society have to do something.
