is one jvm present for a web container

hi
web container can contain more than one or one web application. to execute a web application we need jvm will the jvm be one for each web application or only one jvm for a container.anybody please explain this

Only one jvm will work for Web Container. Even though there are more than one application in a container, those will be executed with the help of one JVM.

It's worth noting that there will generally be a separate classloader for each web app. That way the applications can't access each others static data, and it makes it easier to use security managers to separate them further.
