In case of URL rewriting we required following statement:

// Include the session ID in the action URL.
out.println("<FORM ACTION=\"/servlet/ShoppingCart/" + sessionid +
"\" METHOD=POST>");

Q: what is meaning of backword slash in URL? why we required that?

The backslash escapes the following double quote, which -since this is a Java string- would otherwise terminate the string literal. It causes a literal " to be inserted into the string.
