targeting the client frame

i am sending my username and password to the servlet through form's post method, when i find those data are not valid after processing them,i want to give an error method in some other frame of the client's window and display those form field's in the recent frame. how can i tell over the server side to identify a particular frame to provide a response...

You can't. The response will appear in the window or frame in which the request was originally targetted. If you want the reponse to appear in another frame, you must target the request to that other frame.

Use the target attribute on the form or link.
