i seriously have this doubt in my mind. whether we could abolish terrorism by just destroying afghanistan, or by capturing Osama or by defeating Taliban?
Because i feel that every nation in this world should take up the charge. and the only way for doing it is by teaching our young children the right to love and love others.

"can we abolish terrorism by destroying Afghanistan?"
NO.
We will go after other nations that up to now harbor terrorists.
The world has been placed on notice that NO MORE. You WILL look the terrorists way and say "get out!"
Or WE will do it for them. We WILL go and attack ANY country that doesn't cooperate.
If I were you, I's start buying stock in Boeing and other defense contractors...

It's never been the stated objective of the U.S. to abolish terrorism. What the U.S. wants is Osama bin Laden. The U.S. is simply doing to Afghanistan what it does to its own citizens when they try to protect dangerous people, just on a larger scale.

In other words, punish them.
Since the terrorists have widened the gamut of targets, I say we should do the same.
If many thousands of civilians were legitimate targets in the WTC buildings, then I (and my friends) say what's good for the goose is good for the gander".

Ha ha! I "feel your pain" being in the military but...
We really mean the Taliban, "Taliban Banana: Yankee come and you gotta go HOME!"   Sung to the tune of.. I forgot the name of the tune. They sing it a lot in the American film "Beetlejuice".
We only want to rid ourselves -and as such the rest of the civilized world- of an inferior culture and sub- "civilization" that really has no reason for existence. Like a cancer.
It would be one thing if they want to kill their own. But when they harbor the center of operations of a World Terrorist Organization that recently blew up the Twin Towers and almost made the Pentagon a "Quadragon", THEN THEY WILL HAVE TO LAVE THE PLANET. Period. There is no other way.
But that does not mean that all afghanis are behind the Taliban. Actually, only the Taliban is behind the Taliban.
They happened to be the better fighters and/or better armed of the post-Soviet occupation tribes.
How does the saying goes... "Hindsight is always 20/20"? Well we should have left a civilized government when the Afghanis beat the Russians and we left. So we didn't. So we will now. Better late than never.
The Taliban has given up its right to exist after what they have harbored in their "country", which would not be theirs if there were free elections. They messed with the West, and now the West WILL take them out, have no doubt.
Today it's not Russia with all the lies it told its own soldiers when they were fighting and as such were terribly surprised in the field. This time it is the consensus of 21st Century CIVILIZATION that has declared the Taliban persona non grata on the planet, and as such, they are to be evicted.
And all who back them.
A lot of Americans are still in "denial" of the severity of the situation and of the sacrifices that we may be called to perform AND the difficult decisions that our leaders are likely to face in the next few years including the possible need to use nuclear weapons (if one was to be exploded in American soil, for example).
We are warned: The worst is still not over. But CIVILIZATION will prevail. The resulting world may not look like the current one, but it will be a BETTER world.

Overthrowing the communist government in Afghanistan was a big mistake. This country which had been a tribal society for centuries had shown the first spark of civilisation. Communism may have been the wrong choice for a tribal society groping in the dark for a doorway into the 20th century. Nevertheless it was a step in the right direction. They could have gone from darkness into communism and then to a full blown market economy.
But someone had decided to send them back into the dark void of Islam and tribalism.

I hate to disagree but from CNN September 18, 2001
President Bush warned that the war against terrorism won't be waged solely against Osama bin Laden and his organization, al Qaeda "This is a war not against a specific individual, nor will it be a war against solely one organization," he said. "It is a war against terrorist activities."

This morning, I caught a speach from a Leader in the US (I beleive military but, can't remember exactly, I'm trying to find confirmation now so...) In his speach he grouped "Organized Crime" with "Terrorist Organizations" That is a scary leap!

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
