SessionListener false positives?

We have a SessionListener in WebSphere 5.x to clean up some resources on sessionDestroyed(). Testing in WSAD it seems to get false calls. Our resource cleanup runs, but the session is still live afterwards; or at least the browser can still use it without the behavior we get on real time outs: being redirected to log on. Does this make any sense or ring a bell regarding something we may have done wrong? Thanks!!

Caveat: We haven't nailed down the steps to reproduce this. There is a slim chance we are imagining things, but I don't think so.

What version of the servlet spec does that version of Websphere support?

Not sure if this is related but the spec for sessionListeners changed between 2.3 and 2.4 as to when the sessionDestroyed method gets called.

From:
http://java.sun.com/j2ee/sdk_1.3/techdocs/api/javax/servlet/http/HttpSessionListener.html
public void sessionDestroyed(HttpSessionEvent se)

Notification that a session was invalidated.

Parameters:
se - the notification event

From:
http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/javax/servlet/http/HttpSessionListener.html
