LOL. Damn and I hadn't even responded to this
thread.
But since I was invited..
Just a thought, a bit of a stretch maybe, if possible, try to see how much memory is left on the hard drive you have windows installed on (probably your C: drive) just before Windows crashes. I suppose it is
possible that your virtual memory is expanding to the point where you are low on hard-drive space, in which sometimes unpredictable things may happen.
If you are low on hard-drive space (remember your virtual memory is probably set to be dynamic) after using the browser or running other programs, you may need to free up some space. I would start in your windows\temp directory, then find where all those damn cookies are getting stored (C:\WINDOWS\Cookies and C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files) and zap them, they can take a surprising amount of space over time.
One question to ask yourself is whether this is something that has always been happening, or if it something you have sjust started noticing. If it is something recent that makes expanding virtual memory more likely than if it has always happened. You might also want to think of things you have installed lately. It is also in the realm of possibility that you have gone a long time since a windows install and your windows is just plain getting bloated. An occasional re-install can do wonders.
Also you mentioned a "download manager". Do you know that these things have been known to imbed "spyware" which send facts about you back to a parent company? Please do yourself a favor and read
http://grc.com/downloaders.htm .
