So I thought I'd post this and see what kind of response there is. For those unfamiliar with the idea, there is a theory popularized by a movie and the game "6 degrees of kevin bacon", that everyone in the world is connected to everyone else, through no more than 6 degrees of separation. ie: You can be connected to *everyone* in the world, through only 6 intermediary people.
So I thought I'd start a
thread about how many degrees are between a poster (me to start) and 'famous' people.
The general rule is this though: Each person in the chain *must* have actually met the two people on either side of themselves. So if someone posts on here that they are 2 degrees from Hillary Clinton, you are not 3 degrees away from her, unless you've personally met that poster. (or unless you can get to Hillary yourself through 3 different people!) There's also a variation I've known that *insists* that each person in the chain knows each other quite well. ie: it can't just be a casual meeting. But honestly, I've never been able to connect myself with very many people that way.
Does that seem all too complicated? Well.. here goes.
Bill Clinton - 2
Me - Jennifer - Mark - Bill
My cousin Jennifer's best friend Mark. Mark is one of these brazen people that doesn't have that mental block in place that prevents him from doing things. So he was working as the concierge at a hotel where the President was staying one time, and he just went right on up to Bill in the lobby. Apparently he's quite a charmer, and Bill wasn't busy, so they blabbed for about 20 minutes. There is even a picture that my cousin has seen with her own eyes. I felt I needed to explain that one fully.
Keanu Reeves - 1
Me - Corinna - Keanu
Corinna was my boss back when I worked retail in a photo lab. When Keanu came to Winnipeg to play Hamlet on stage, Corinna was lurking around the stage entrance and got pictures of him. She also had a connection in the Theatre, so she had several promo posters for the performance that were 'demo'd but never produced. So she got him to autograph one of them.
Anyone else?
