hai... i am presently invovled in a project which concentrates on javax.comm package.and i have tried it and succeded in testing it statically.and in the phase have written servlet code for it extending capability for connectivity.but problem is that receiving error at DEPLOYING it in server side(APACHE TOMCAT 5.5.12).i dont knw wer to post th topic coz actually in dilema of error whether it is frm servlet or frm apche side please help me this is my code

You appear to be throwing away all of the information which might help you solve the problem. Naturally if your program charges ahead after failure to create some essential part, you will get a null pointer exception. Insert proper logging statements and try again.

thanks william for response can you elaborate the problem on my side because the whole thing got executed at command prompt but when i convert it into servlet script it gives those error messages

Insert proper logging statements and try again.

don't you understand?

Java has the exception mechanism to help programmers find the cause of problems. The compiler forces you to write catch statements but it is up to you to make use of the information.
