Usage of resource-ref in web.xml

Hi,
I came across some code that declares the datasources using <resource-ref> in web.xml.

If my understanding is correct, the resources declared in web.xml cannot be used outside of the web project. Say, for example i create two projects WebProject and ServiceProject. Will the resources declared in the web.xml(WebProject) be available in the ServiceProject? Thanks.

Of course not. Why would you expect declarations for one context to be available to others?
