Installing Rails Issue

I'm trying to evaluate if Ruby can be used on one of my smaller projects and am running into an error that I can't seem to overcome. I first installed Ruby by going to the rubyinstaller.rubyforge.org site and downloading the one click installer for Windows. After installing Ruby, I confirmed everything looked good since I was able to create a small set of scripts and run them successfully. However, when I try and install Rails, by typing "gem install rails --include-dependencies" I get the following error:
ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::RemoteFetcher::FetchError)
bad file descriptor - connect(2)(Errorno::EBADF)

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Scott

Quick Googling led me to a few pages that recommend setting the environment variable "http-proxy" before invoking gem install:
