What does it mean to "call" a web application? Do you mean you want to send a request to one of the app's URLs and receive the response from it?

This is where web services shine. Integration, integration.

If you expose business logic of the "web application" as one or more web services, then you can simply call the services by sending SOAP messages from the VB application.

Web applications that are built using Struts typically are GUI based applications that are used by a human that is using a web browser.

If you want communication from application-to-application, you may need to reengineer the business logic of the web application and expose it as one or more web services.

If you coded all the business logic in Struts Action classes, you did not use Struts correctly and will have more work to do implementing web services.

My Java web application have one of the module(say modulex) responsible for submiting some data or update data to the DB. I set some session variable as soon as user logged into java web application. And modulex uses those variables.
Now I am not sure how to invoke that jsp (or modulex) from VB. ( Basically VB application also uses the same jsp (and behind their action classes) to write the data or update data to DB, same as like java web application)

thanks

Did you pay any attention at all to James' post?

P.S. RESTful web services are rapidly replacing SOAP-based services and are much easier to implement.
