What is information technology. Is it different from internet technology (things Java Ranchers are doing)?

information technology (IT) usually has to do with jobs in the computer industry. Usually development and support, be it hardware or software. Internet Technology obviously only deals with internet related topics IN information technology. -Dale

IT Short for Information Technology, and pronounced as separate letters, the broad subject concerned with all aspects of managing and processing information, especially within a large organization or company. Because computers are central to information management, computer departments within companies and universities are often called IT departments. Some companies refer to this department as IS (Information Services) or MIS (Management Information Services).

I'd say that Internet enables information technology. I must admit that I have rarely heard of the terms "Internet technology" put together. Internet is made of numerous different technologies that enables information exchanges in a decentralized way...
