I was wondering if anyone had any tips on coding the artificial intelligence part of a game. I can design one player games so far no problem. I would like to branch out and create games where the user plays against the computer. Any tips or links would be great.

Also Manning has a book "Developing Games That Learn" by Leonard Dorfman and Narendra K. Ghosh with two free chapters online

Thanks Map for the links! The robocode is not exactly what I was looking for, but it was pretty neat, I played it for about 3 hours! The second link was more along the lines of what I was looking for, and a whole lot more. Definitely looks like a good read. Thanks again Map!
