Final Semester of School Schedule

Okay this could be interesting. This summer, after having gone to college off and on for... let's just say since the late 80's, I will finally be finishing up by BS in Computer Science. I know, how the hell can anyone take so long to finish up a degree is beyond me too, but I took a significant chunk out of my life to defend the free world against the forces of Communism, Liberalism, and just plain Evil (in other words: Map, Michael Ernest, and <noam chomsky> ).
So now I need to come up with the four classes I am going to take this summer. I've finished all my required classes and the only requirement I have is that I need at least 12 more credits total, at least 4 of which must be upper-level (3xx or 4xx classes). The summer semester is split into two parts so I will take two classes during each part.
The rules:

1. To help me decide on my schedule, pick one course from each section (A,B,C, or D). These courses have been chosen because of the hours when they are offered and whether or not I meet any requirements to take the course.
2. At least two of the courses must be upper level (have a 3XX or 4XX designator).


Things to keep in mind:

• I am a Computer Science major
• You can assume I have all pre-requisites for any class I listed
• I've been going to school for freakin-ever so I do not feel the need to bust my ass this last semester. I would like to enjoy myself.
• I already have a job in the industry so I do not have the need to take classes that will help me find a job.

how's it going, jason? i added on a math degree to my computer science, so i have another 1.5 years now. i ask myself "why" every morning.
my choices would be:

PHIL 210

CMSC 432 - OO

IFSM 403 - User Interface

IFSM 413 - GUI with JAVA

but, that's just me.

This is what I'd go for (although I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment). Of course, my last semester of college included golf and racquetball...

Personally, I'd like UI Design or Database Implementation over World archaeology, but with the other classes, I thought that one would provide some nap time.

I studied economics, spanish, latin american history, politics.
Now I work as a programmer/project manager for an endangered company.
These studies (including tesis and diplom tests took me for about 7.5 years). It was really fun for some years. At the end I felt quite old there, though in Germany its not so unusual that people finish university in their late 20ties.
So here's my pick:

- ANTH 397A Politics and Conflict Resolution
- POLI 409 Dynamics of International Terrorism: National Policy Responses and Evolving Challenges
(could be usefull, as you are responsible for defending planet against fundamentalism, communism and trotzkist infiltration )

Dont feel bad, I started college, the first time in 1984, and should be getting my BS in computer science in August. I also took time out to defend the free world (still do it part time too!!) even though I didn't know Michael, Map or fundamentalist then .
I don't have your problem though, I might go for my MBA so the last two classes I need this summer are both pre-reqs for that program - unfortunately thay are an office administration class and a marketing class

Dave - Congrats on your impending graduation. It's nice to finally see some light at the end of the tunnel isn't it. You are probably in the same position as me at work where when you tell people you are going to school they assume you are going for your Masters. Everybody just assumes that people doing this job already have their degree I guess. In fact, at my job, my boss has already said to me "When start working on your Masters...". I guess that is another thing assumed in the biz these days, that is that you will move on to post-graduate education.
Greg, Corey, Axel, Guy - Man some of you guys want me to be working my tail off this summer! I read the description for the Java GUI class and it says that it is geared towards non-programmers (it is IFSM after all) and that they will do AWT and might get into Swing if time permits (in summer classes time rarely permits). :roll: The other thing with IFSM courses is that they tend to usually involve group projects, which in an educational setting I personally can't stand.
But you all have given me plenty to think about, particularly the Project Management course. I do find it interesting nobody listed the Visual Basic course.
