The main difference between awt and swing is, that awt uses native methods of the OS to display GUI-components whereas swing draws most of the components by itself.

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
