Since the readLine() of DataInputStream is deprecated, what is my alternative to read the writeChars() of DataOutputStream? (aside from using BufferedReader)?

And why don't you want to use BufferedReader?

I have this part of code...

this runs with -deprecated sign...
Now it when I use BufferedReader it returns garbage chars...
