What if you could simultainiously edit a file with the person to you? You each have your own moniter, keyboard, and mouse. Everthing you type into your editor screen is visible to him as soon as he scrolls to the right place. It'd be like a whiteboard.
The other programmer can call out, "make a function called getJavaRanch() that downloads the JavaRanch home page into a String" and then goes about coding his own algorithm as if the function already exists. Then it slowly appears at the bottom of his file as his partner types it in. He can scroll down and look at the progress if he wants, or just ignore it and go about his buisness.
Would this increase productivity, not accomplish anything, or just drive people insane?

Check out the Unix Kibbitz command.
I am not sure if it's standard or an additional download/install.
