The Eurovision song contest is typically one where the countries of Europe and its surroundings try to out do one another in the "Who can write the worst song / dress the worst" category. After all the countries have played their songs, the next part (the best part) is the voting, where you see a lot of tactical voting going on. For example the Scandinavian countries will typically give each other the best marks while the rest of Europe will get the lowest marks. The French will always give the British "nil point" All in all a good night to get your friends round, get sloshed and cringe at your own countrys entry and laugh at all the others. Mark
The Eurovision Song Contest http://www.eurovision.tv/ . Ireland couldn't win because they weren't in it this year :- countries which score too low have to sit out a year. I would imagine that one of the reasons why not many people responded to this thread is that it's not always easy to find out much about other countries' entries until the show itself. Certainly here in the UK I'd not seen or heard any except our own entry (which came equal third with Estonia, by the way). I enjoyed the show, though. Even the immensely iritating Terry Wogan (who does the comulsory voice over for UK viewers) had obviously been told to rein in his gibberish since last year.

Germany was the most favourite with Bookers here, and alas, they ended up with a very low score! For people from outside Europe, Eurovision is the one such program where Europeans comes to know there are this many countries in Europe . Also this is the one of the many chances to make fun of each other. A jolly bunch of people, that Europeans are.

I think the eurovision is a great celebration os all europe! the only place a whole continent gathers together for a party and a contest ! and Mark, only since last year the votes are from the civilans like us so only the last 2 years the so called "political" votes happen. and anyway still, the best song won
aside from being incredibly tacky and bad entertainment. (It wasn't even sown on terrestrial TV in the uK this year!) Eurovison is and always was evidence of the fact that Europe is just a a bunch of countries who pretend to get along but secretly hate eachother! The voting is so political. Even when they changed it to a phone vote a couple of years ago it just went to prove that the French will never vote for the UK ... even though we gave them a decent score! Saying that ... the French should have just given us marks for having our song performed by someone called Jessica Garlic!!
Pounding at a thick stone wall won't move it, sometimes, you need to step back to see the way around.

I thought they would have shown it on UK TV... or did Sky bag the rights? Anyhow if they didnt show it, was it because that guy who presented Liquid News on BBC Choice had died? I heard him and Clare Sweeney (of Brookie) were tipped to present it instead of ol' Terry Wogan this year. Mark

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to
run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
