Convert a date and time to a different time zone

Dear friends
How can I display a the date & time converted into a different time zone?
For example I have a time in this format
String date="2002-09-25 13:33:06";
Asssume this is in a database and database server resides in US.
If I view this date in India through a web browser, it should be converted into corresponding indian time.
Do I need to convert the time and store the database?
Can I convert after accessing from the database?
Please help
