Number of sleep hours of human being depends on various factors such as a)Person's health, herediatory factors b)Surrounding work environment c)Food intake By average, normal person sleeps between 6 to 8 hours so you are quite normal Some of the people who used to sleep 4 to 4.5 hours were ex.British PM John Major,I think Churchil also(Anybody from UK?)and ex Indian PM Nehru. Suggestion: As option 'a' is impossible to deviate, change in option 'b' is difficult ,opt for change in option 'c'

Margaret Thatcher famously thrived on 3 hours sleep per night. But then again she was barking mad...

There have been a number of studies that suggest that you really want to try and get 7-8 hours sleep. Less sleep usually results in lower productivity, less alertness, slower reaction time (car accidents), etc. There have also been some medical indications that length of sleep outside the 7-8 hour range can have health consequences (increased risk of heart-attack, for example). It is still an ongoing area of investigation.

There are studies that say you can't "catch up" on sleep. Just like you can't catch up on food, meaning that if you've been hungry most of the week, you can't just eat twice as mutch to make up for it. It would probably be equaly reasonable to assume that a person sleeps 9 or more hours on the weekend because he didn't sleep well Friday, as because he didn't sleep well all week. Brain, on the other hand, never sleeps. At least in some of us Shura
i find that 7-8 hours is ideal. either less or more makes me tired or groggy

And as per my knowlege as I read in some article that studies reveal that everyone has different sleeping hrs. Some need 4 hr sleep and some need 6 he and some might need 10 hrs. I need 8 hrs sleep. though these days I am sleeping only 6 hrs. But on sat/sun when I have 8 hr sleep I feel more relaxed. And I have friend who can not sleep more than 6 hrs and he says he feel fresh after 6 hr only... But this truth ... why we have only 24 hrs
