How to I validate and retireve a cert from a keystore programmatically?

I need to create two classes: 1. to programmatically retrieve a certificate from a keystore based on the "alias" name and 2. validate the certificate in the keystore
I've created the keystore using the keytool -genkey, but don't know where to begin on the next steps
Any ideas?
