Is there a way I can execute Perl commands from within Java.

Yes-- use the Runtime.exec() methods to execute the perl interpreter.

Are you looking for a Java-PERL interpreter API, or just invoking PERL scripts as if from the command-line? If the latter, Runtime.exec() calls should work...
