...of a bug that wouldn't go away?! Why, just take your eyes off the monitor, go outside and take a deep breath of the relaxing evening mist, then fix yourself your good old cup of Java, sip at it and then let your thoughts wander away in deep creativity...and then comeback and type away at it on your keyboard like Rocky Marciano with both fists flailing, compile, and then you'll discover -- there's no more errors! And then you'll exclaim --
I'm invincible!!!

Or maybe you can just gas that bug away
Cheer up, man!

the only thing you can do if there is no hope is "go with the flow"
if the house is going to be repossesed and there is nothing you can do about it, have a yard sale then start packing.

oopss.. I din not read this post of yours....
Ah... It happens with everyone... if this happen then best thing is go out for some time OR take one day leave, totally forget your programming problem.
Go fresh in morning .. you will have solution.
and problems are in all fields .. so you can not change the field becoz of problems ..
If you have interest in other field then thing is different.

getting away from the problem for a while is good advice. i used to get that way troubleshooting TV's. when i did i would drop it and go on to another one. before too long i would think of something to check and wha-la.
first thing in the morning IS when solution is most likely.
when you get stuck is a good time to break down and actually flowchart the program.
i have gotten a lot of help with things beyond my knowledge(like JDBC and SQL) from asking for help here at javaranch or in the old days at Sun's site.

i have to disagree with this. i have run into a problem that noone could help me figure out and the applet still only works properly in IE. it is obvious that the JVM in netscape was broken. there still might be a work-around but i got tired of trying to make it work.

... as everyone else do, just blame it all on Micro$oft, and search in Javaranch or Javasoft!

Right, so this (and my current project) reminded me of:
I'm feeling much better now that I've given up hope

which reminded me of Ashley Brilliant, who I hadn't thought of in years.
A quick search gave me this page, including another favourite:
I may not be perfect, but parts of me are excellent
