Few days back I came across the statement of one Researcher saying "We don't want very bright people , but the people with innovative minds!" Does this makes sense?

Intelligent people will solve the problems quickly(in a traditional way). but Innovative people look for the new ways of solving the same problem

Next time someone begins a conversation about "creativity" just remember that "Good artists copy, great artists steal".

Give me an example of a person who was innovative but not intelligent.
If person has excellant GPA through out his career. How should we classify that person? In my view person is soem what intelligent, not necessarily innovative. So I think intelligence is a part of innovation. But we can also find the people who are innovative but lack GPAs etc.So are these two characteristics of brain are different? Lets limit our discussion to Science/tech. What qualities should person possess for making contribution to following areas? 1)Physics 2)Mathematics 3)Computer Science(software/hardware)/Electronics 4)Engineering Sciences. In my opinion physics requires much more ability than most of the areas Math requires analytical ability than imagination, vision.

{ A person who was presently laid of from the programmers job and is still stucked to programming field } Getting/Loosing a job has nothing to do with innovation/intelligence.If he gets a job again next month, then what? Will you arugue that he was not intelligent for 30 days?

That half-monkey who invented a stone hammer (if you believe in Darwin theory...) Last market crash, besides dot-gones, had a lot to do with business people innovating without any particular reason; just creating businesses for the sake of jumping on a bandwagon... Pets.com? Buying groceries online?? How is that for innovation by a bunch of business morons? Shura [ September 05, 2002: Message edited by: Shura Balaganov ]
