Recent events have generated a need for drunkeness. Since my wife and I have never aquired a taste for alcohol, we have found that about the only drink that we can stomach is the daiquiri. Sometimes.
How is it that sometimes a daiquiri has a strong rum tastes and sometimes is doesn't?
We have on hand raspberries and rum. Trying to run these two through a blender resulted in too much rum flavor. Cutting back on the rum "didn't work".
Can anybody help with this issue?

What kind of rum are you using? Lay off the 151!
Standard frozen daiquiri recipe:
Frozen Daiquiri
1 1/2 oz Light Rum
1/ oz Triple Sec
1 1/2 oz Lime Juice
1 tsp Sugar
1 cup Ice
Blend ingredients for 5 seconds at low speed. Then blend at high speed until firm. Top with a cherry.
**Note from the Lone Lurker: Use a wooden chopstick instead of a cherry & you have yourself a Hickory Dacquiri, Doc!

Pam is always looking to sell her x-rated soaps.
Try this; less boozy than daiquiris, and sounds WAAAAY yummy... but avoid if on a diet (notice that 'diet' is the word 'die' with a 't' at the end, like a little cross on a grave.....)
Raspberry Cheesecake
1 tbsp Cream Cheese, Softened
1 oz White Creme de Cacao
1 oz Black Raspberry Liqueur
2 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
1/2 cup Ice
Blend until smooth.
Let me know when you make a batch & I will be right over.

Paul, anything with rum in it, tastes like rum. That is one of the penalties incurred while trying to get bombed.
You need to alter your drinking strategy to make the experience more enjoyable. There are 2 approaches to your problem.
1. Make your first drink extremely strong. Be a man and suck it back. Slightly cut back the volume of alcohol, so it tastes better than the first. Quickly you will realize that you are drunk, and the need for mix is unnecessary.
2. Start out with weak drinks and slowly increase the volume of alcohol with each drink, while reducing the amount of mix. The increase in strength between drinks is hardly noticeable. By the end of the night, you'll be doing shooters.
Either way will accomplish the job. Usually men will use option 1 because it looks cool and option 2 is reserved for women, so they can still look feminine and lady like, while getting hammered out of their tree

Pardon me, sir, but have you considered trying wine instead? A very dry white is also capable of inducing inebriation while producing a desirable finish.
