RSS item -- pubDate need to parse

Anyone,
I followed the directions at: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javaserverpages/rss_utilities/ using RSS 2.0 and all works well, but I also need to parse the following:

<item>
-<title>
title here
</title>
<pubDate>Wed, 27 Jul 2005 05:00:00 PDT</pubDate>
.....
</item>



I dont see anything in the taglib supplied that would allow me to do parse the item-->pubDate data. Any information as to how to accomplish this task?
